State-owned Coal India Ltd aims to increase the count of electric vehicles (e-vehicles) at its mines to 681 by the fiscal year 2025-26, up from the current 178, according to a statement from the government.
Pralhad Joshi, the Minister of Coal and Mines, mentioned in a written response to the Lok Sabha that Coal India Ltd is emphasizing the adoption of electric vehicles across different mines and subsidiary headquarters.
As of now, there are 178 e-vehicles in operation within Coal India Limited. Minister Joshi outlined the goal of reaching a total of 681 e-vehicles by the fiscal year 2025-26.
He highlighted that Coal India Limited has implemented various measures to reduce carbon emissions in mining operations, including the deployment of electric vehicles in all its subsidiary companies.
It’s worth noting that Coal India Limited plays a significant role, contributing to over 80% of the country’s domestic coal output.
