Drivn, an electric vehicle leasing platform focused on heavy commercial fleets, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Energy in Motion, an associate venture of Ravindra Energy Limited, to accelerate the deployment of heavy-duty electric trucks across India.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to deploy approximately 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years, leveraging Drivn’s customer network and operational platform. The collaboration aims to address key barriers in fleet electrification by integrating vehicle supply, financing, and energy infrastructure into a unified solution.
The partnership will combine Energy in Motion’s capabilities in electric truck manufacturing and battery-swapping technology with Drivn’s expertise in leasing, financing, and fleet operations. This integrated approach is expected to simplify adoption for fleet operators by reducing upfront costs and improving operational reliability.
As part of the MoU, both companies will jointly identify deployment opportunities, align on vehicle specifications, and manage delivery timelines. The scope also includes after-sales support, maintenance services, and access to charging and battery-swapping infrastructure, ensuring end-to-end lifecycle management for fleet operators.
Commenting on the partnership, Manav Bansal stated that scaling electric trucks in India will depend on delivering strong commercial performance, emphasizing the importance of consistent operations and clear economic benefits for fleet operators.
Alpna Jain highlighted that simplifying the transition process and ensuring predictable costs remain critical factors for adoption, particularly for operators managing large and diverse fleets.
Meanwhile, Narendra M. Murkumbi noted that the collaboration validates Energy in Motion’s approach of enabling scale in heavy commercial EVs through battery-swapping solutions and service-based energy models.
The partnership builds on Drivn’s recent US$ 80 million funding commitment from Nomura and aligns with its broader strategy of forming ecosystem partnerships to enable coordinated deployment across vehicles, energy infrastructure, and fleet operations.
This development underscores the growing momentum in India’s electric mobility sector, particularly in the heavy commercial vehicle segment, where integrated solutions are emerging as a key enabler for large-scale adoption.
