DRIVN, an electric vehicle leasing platform focused on heavy commercial fleets, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors to explore leasing-based deployment of electric commercial vehicles for fleet operators across India.
Under the partnership, DRIVN will offer customised operating lease solutions for Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle portfolio. The initiative aims to help fleet operators transition to electric mobility by reducing upfront costs and providing simplified financing and deployment solutions.
DRIVN said its leasing model is designed specifically for commercial fleet operators and addresses key challenges related to financing, vehicle deployment and charging infrastructure. The partnership with Tata Motors is expected to support wider adoption of electric commercial vehicles among fleet operators.
As part of the proposed collaboration, DRIVN plans to deploy more than 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years. The companies aim to combine Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle portfolio with DRIVN’s leasing solutions to provide fleet operators with a more scalable pathway towards electrification.
“Together with DRIVN, we aim to make electric trucks more accessible to our customers. Our electric trucks portfolio has been engineered to deliver performance, reliability and operating economics that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Ltd.
Manav Bansal, CEO and Co-founder of DRIVN, said the partnership would address key barriers to electric fleet adoption, particularly upfront costs and deployment timelines. He added that combining Tata Motors’ vehicle portfolio with DRIVN’s leasing model could make electric fleets more commercially viable for operators.
Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer at DRIVN, said the collaboration would bring together vehicle maintenance, uptime support and technology to help fleet operators improve operational efficiency and scale electric fleet adoption.
Tata Motors has recently introduced a portfolio of electric trucks ranging from 7 to 55 tonnes under its Tata Trucks.ev brand. Built on the I-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) architecture, the electric trucks are designed for applications including e-commerce logistics, construction material transportation and port operations.
The partnership comes as India’s commercial vehicle sector increasingly shifts towards electric mobility, supported by the expansion of charging infrastructure and growing demand for lower-emission transportation solutions.
