ChargeZone and Fresh Bus have expanded their existing partnership, with Fresh Bus planning to deploy an additional 400 all-electric intercity buses on ChargeZone’s charging network.
The expansion will increase the Fresh Bus fleet supported by ChargeZone’s charging infrastructure from 100 to 500 electric buses. Over the next 15 months, the expanded network is expected to connect 20 cities and cover 17 additional towns across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
To support the larger fleet, ChargeZone will deploy 30 MW of additional charging capacity, alongside the 10 MW of dedicated infrastructure already deployed for Fresh Bus. This will take the total charging capacity dedicated to the partnership to 40 MW.
The expansion forms part of ChargeZone’s broader plan to add 200 MW of charging capacity across its national network. The company currently operates more than 15,000 charging points across India.
At full scale, the expanded partnership is expected to deliver approximately 100 million units of electricity annually and support more than 20,000 passenger journeys per day. It is also estimated to help avoid approximately 9,000–10,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of ChargeZone, said the expansion demonstrates how reliable charging infrastructure can support the large-scale electrification of commercial and intercity public transport.
Sudhakar Reddy, Founder of Fresh Bus, said the partnership’s charging network has enabled the company to move from testing the electric intercity bus model to scaling its operations across multiple routes.
The expanded partnership is expected to strengthen electric intercity transportation across southern India while supporting the development of charging infrastructure required for high-utilisation commercial EV fleets.
