Audi has launched its latest A5 and S5 models, introducing a blend of electrification, dynamic driving, and cutting-edge digitalization. Showcased on the winding roads of the French Côte d’Azur, the new Audi A5 family demonstrated its impressive performance and advanced features, setting a new benchmark for mid-size luxury cars.

The updated lineup is equipped with Audi’s new MHEV Plus technology, featuring a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This system combines a powertrain generator, belt starter alternator, and lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering up to 18 kW (24 hp) of additional electric power. This technology allows the Audi A5 models to achieve enhanced performance, including pure electric driving during stop-and-go traffic and regenerative braking up to 25 kW. The MHEV Plus system aims to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, making it suitable for both city and highway driving.

“The new Audi A5 represents our commitment to delivering dynamic performance while embracing sustainable technology,” said Thomas Nylund, Head of Audi Buses Europe. “The MHEV Plus system, along with advanced chassis engineering, ensures that the A5 models provide a refined driving experience, even on the challenging roads of the French Maritime Alps.”

The driving dynamics of the new Audi A5 series have been refined with a stiffer chassis and improved steering design, enhancing agility and comfort. The models feature dynamic anti-roll stabilization, rear-axle tuning, and integrated brake control with torque vectoring, allowing for precise handling during tight turns and mountain curves. The new chassis is available with a standard steel suspension, or the optional S sports suspension with electronic damper control, lowering the body by 20 millimeters for a sportier stance.

Inside the cabin, Audi introduces a new digital experience with a suite of high-resolution displays. The 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch MMI panoramic display offer a driver-focused design, while an optional 10.9-inch passenger display further enhances the “Digital Stage.” The user-friendly interface is complemented by Audi’s advanced voice assistant, which integrates AI-chatbot ChatGPT for seamless interaction through natural language commands.

The newly designed head-up display (HUD) in the A5 models is 85 percent larger, providing detailed information like navigation, speed, and media data directly in the driver’s line of sight. The A5’s optional Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system with 3D sound includes 20 loudspeakers, including headrest speakers, offering a superior audio experience with 810 watts of power.

Lighting technology also takes a leap forward with customizable LED daytime running lights and second-generation digital OLED rear lights, which enable car-to-x communication. The digital light signatures can alert other road users to potential hazards and provide dynamic lighting effects that mirror the elegance of the A5’s design.

Production of the new Audi A5 models will begin early next year, as the brand continues to push boundaries in design, performance, and innovation. The A5’s combination of electric and traditional powertrains, alongside advanced digital features, highlights Audi’s commitment to sustainable and luxurious driving experiences.
