Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) with more than 50 electric motorcycle dealer partners across 15 states and territories in India, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into the country’s electric two-wheeler market. The agreements aim to establish more than 50 e-motorcycle showrooms across 34 cities, strengthening VinFast’s distribution network and expanding its presence in one of the world’s largest two-wheeler markets.

The signing ceremony was held at VinFast’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, during a visit by Indian dealer partners to explore the company’s manufacturing capabilities, production standards, and electric mobility portfolio.

Under the proposed partnerships, VinFast and its dealer network will develop showrooms across major regions of India. The planned expansion covers Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, and Punjab in the North; Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh in Central India; Maharashtra and Gujarat in the West; Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh in the South; and West Bengal and Odisha in the East.

The selected locations represent major two-wheeler markets with growing demand for electric mobility solutions. Through this network expansion, VinFast aims to improve access to electric motorcycles while offering consumers more affordable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable transportation alternatives.

According to the company, the Indian dealer partners had already expressed interest in VinFast’s product portfolio and brand positioning before visiting Vietnam. Their visit to the company’s manufacturing facilities provided further insight into its production capacity, technological capabilities, and established electric motorcycle market presence, reinforcing their commitment to supporting the brand’s expansion in India.

Commenting on the development, Vo Thi Cam Tu, Managing Director of VinFast E-Scooters Overseas Market, highlighted India’s importance in the company’s international growth strategy. She stated that India’s large consumer base, increasing demand for electric mobility, and expanding market opportunities make it a key destination for VinFast’s global expansion.

She added that the signing of the LOIs demonstrates VinFast’s long-term commitment to the Indian market and reflects the company’s confidence in the country’s potential for electric two-wheeler adoption.

Anurag Saxena, CEO of VinFast India E-Scooters, described the agreements with more than 50 dealer partners as the beginning of the company’s efforts to introduce its electric motorcycles across India.

He emphasized that VinFast is also working to develop charging infrastructure and strengthen after-sales service capabilities to ensure customers receive reliable support throughout their vehicle ownership experience.

VinFast initially entered India’s electric mobility market in 2025, focusing on the distribution, manufacturing, and assembly of electric passenger vehicles. The latest agreements represent a new phase of expansion, establishing the foundation for the company’s first dedicated electric motorcycle distribution network in the country.

India offers substantial growth opportunities for electric two-wheeler manufacturers due to its large population, extensive transportation requirements, and increasing focus on cleaner mobility solutions.

During the financial year 2025–2026, India recorded approximately 21.41 million two-wheeler registrations, with electric vehicles accounting for just 6.54% of the total. The relatively low share of electric two-wheelers indicates significant potential for further market penetration as charging infrastructure, product availability, and consumer awareness continue to improve.

The planned showroom network is expected to strengthen VinFast’s market accessibility and support its efforts to establish a competitive position in India’s electric motorcycle segment. The company is also prioritizing charging facilities and after-sales services as part of its broader strategy to build a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem.

The signing of the LOIs represents an initial commitment toward dealership development rather than the completion of the planned showroom rollout. As VinFast advances its distribution partnerships and supporting infrastructure, the expansion could contribute to greater electric two-wheeler availability and support India’s transition toward sustainable transportation.
