Toyota Kirloskar Motor Unveils Sustainability Report 2026, Highlights Progress in Clean Mobility and ESG

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has unveiled its Sustainability Report 2026 under the theme “Progress that Powers Everyone,” highlighting the company’s efforts across sustainable mobility, environmental stewardship, responsible customer engagement, value-chain collaboration, employee development, community initiatives, and governance.

The report was unveiled by Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Forest, Ecology & Environment, Government of Karnataka, in the presence of B. Padmanabha, Senior Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, along with other senior TKM leadership.

The report outlines TKM’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and its approach to creating long-term value for people and the planet, in line with Toyota’s philosophy of “Producing Happiness for All” and its vision of being “Best In Town.”

Speaking at the launch, Shri Ramalinga Reddy said that environmental protection needs to extend beyond policy frameworks and become part of everyday choices. He highlighted the role of industries in areas such as water conservation, waste reduction, clean energy adoption and biodiversity preservation, noting that sustained commitment and collective action are important for building a greener and more resilient India.

B. Padmanabha said sustainability remains an integral part of Toyota’s approach to creating value for society. He highlighted the collective efforts of employees, suppliers, dealers and partners in areas including carbon reduction, resource efficiency, community development and responsible governance.

Toyota Advances Multi-Pathway Sustainable Mobility

TKM continues to pursue a multi-pathway approach to sustainable mobility in India, focusing on low-carbon technologies suited to the country’s diverse mobility requirements.

The company is advancing solutions across hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hydrogen-powered technologies and alternative fuels. Toyota hybrid vehicles account for nearly 80% of all hybrids sold in India, according to the company.

TKM has also expanded its electrified vehicle portfolio with the launch of the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its first battery electric vehicle in India. The company said the model is intended to provide customers with additional lower-emission mobility options.

TKM Achieves Fifth Consecutive Year of 100% Renewable Electricity

TKM said its manufacturing facilities have operated on 100% renewable electricity for the fifth consecutive year, helping eliminate Scope 2 emissions from its manufacturing operations.

Since FY2013, the company has avoided more than 594,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. It has also recycled more than 95% of manufacturing waste and meets more than 90% of its water requirements through water recycling and rainwater harvesting.

Company Expands Skill Development and Employee Initiatives

TKM said it continues to invest in future-ready talent, workplace inclusion and employee well-being as part of its sustainability strategy.

Through the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and partnerships with more than 120 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and over 30 Government Tool Rooms and Training Centres (GTTCs), the company has trained more than 140,000 young people.

The initiatives also focus on mobility, road safety, diversity, inclusion and workforce development.

TKM Invests Over INR 1,047 Million in Community Development

The company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives cover areas including education, healthcare, sanitation, water conservation, road safety, livelihoods and environmental restoration.

During FY2025-26, TKM invested more than INR 1,047 million in community development initiatives. Since inception, its initiatives have positively impacted more than 7.4 million lives, including over 600,000 students, according to the company.

Focus on Localisation and India’s Growth

TKM said its sustainability and business strategy is aligned with its vision of “Grow India, Grow with India”, alongside Toyota’s global vision of “Producing Happiness for All.”

The company continues to focus on manufacturing investments, supply-chain localisation, skill development and future mobility technologies as part of its contribution to India’s economic growth and the transition towards a cleaner, more inclusive and resilient future.
