Hyundai Motor Company and Škoda Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on establishing a hydrogen mobility ecosystem.
The agreement was signed by Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business at Hyundai, and Petr Novotný, CEO of Škoda Group, during the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague. The MOU focuses on exploring hydrogen fuel cell systems, energy-efficient mobility solutions, and expanding hydrogen ecosystem opportunities beyond transportation.
Both companies agree that hydrogen will play a crucial role in creating a sustainable future, with mobility as a starting point. Under the MOU, Hyundai is expected to share its fuel cell technology, accelerating eco-friendly mobility in markets where Škoda Group operates, including the Czech Republic.
The partnership will also explore fuel cell applications beyond mobility, with Hyundai leveraging its extensive experience in hydrogen solutions across various sectors. This collaboration aligns with Hyundai’s broader commitment to building a hydrogen society under its HTWO business brand, which covers the entire hydrogen value chain.
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC), established in Nošovice in 2008, has an annual production capacity of 350,000 vehicles and is one of Europe’s most advanced automotive plants. It remains the largest foreign investment in the Czech Republic.
