Ather Energy, the well-known electric vehicle manufacturer, achieved a remarkable milestone in October 2023 by selling 10,056 units, marking a substantial 30% month-on-month growth. Ather is actively broadening its presence and influence in the electric scooter market, with an impressive network of 166 Experience Centers spanning 100 cities.

Among its exceptional offerings, the Ather 450S, renowned as one of India’s fastest and most intelligent scooters, stands alongside the Ather 450X. These Experience Centers provide prospective buyers with the unique opportunity to test ride any Ather vehicle, aiding them in selecting the most suitable option before making a purchase. Ather’s customer-centric approach and innovative product range continue to position it as a leader in the EV industry.

Notably, Ather Energy has secured approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for its newly developed indigenous charging connector, known as the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS). This versatile connector is compatible with two-, three-, and four-wheelers and is the world’s first combined AC and DC charger developed in India. The introduction of LECCS has the potential to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles on a large scale, benefiting both the ecosystem and independent charging operators, and leading to increased availability of fast and slow charging stations across the country.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, expressed his thoughts on these developments, stating, “With an expanded product portfolio, we had a strong start to the festive season, delivering 10,056 scooters to our customers, reflecting approximately 30% month-on-month growth. We are also making significant progress in charging infrastructure. Ather’s charging connector has been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as India’s first indigenously developed standard for light electric vehicles, a substantial step toward positioning India as a global leader in LEVs. Additionally, we are venturing into our first international market, with the opening of our first Experience Center in Nepal on November 5th. Furthermore, Ather has reached a significant milestone in the domestic market by launching in Jammu, expanding our retail presence in India to a total of 150 Experience Centers.”

In addition to these achievements, Ather Energy has announced its plans for global expansion, entering the Nepalese market in November. Ather’s decision to expand beyond India follows its remarkable success in the domestic market, where its 450 Series dominates the premium two-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) segment with a 75% market share. As Nepal shows increasing interest in cleaner mobility options, Ather’s export of the Ather 450X to this market comes at an opportune time to understand new markets in terms of product performance and acceptability.

Furthermore, Ather Energy has established partnerships with leading banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) such as IDFC First, Bajaj Finance, and Hero FinCorp to enhance EV accessibility. By offering flexible loan tenures of up to five years, Ather electric scooters now come with monthly EMIs as low as Rs 2,999. This forward-thinking initiative aligns with the Indian government’s ambition to achieve a 30% electric vehicle penetration by 2030, bringing sustainable mobility closer to reality nationwide.
