Chartered Speed Ltd., a mobility service provider, launches an electric vehicle fleet in GIFT City, the first Smart City in India. Chartered Speed launched 4 fully-integrated electric Buses as part of Phase 1. 20 electric bikes were also introduced to meet the growing demand for public transport services for commuters to and from Gandhinagar’s GIFT City. Over 12-18 months, the number of buses will rise to 50.
Tapan Ray, the Managing director & CEO of the Group at GIFT City, officially launched the services with Mr Pankaj Gandhi (Managing Director and CEO at Chartered Speed Ltd). You can choose from convenient subscription options. You can pre-book your seats on buses or find a bicycle for your travel route. These services will provide travel services to three destinations: 2 in Ahmedabad, and 1 in Gandhinagar.

By the completion of all the phases, we will potentially reduce 7,000 vehicles from entering Gift City and reducing unnecessary traffic from Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar Highway.”

The 37-seater electric buses have all the necessary amenities, including mobile charging sockets, onboard wifi, and safety devices. This makes it an accessible mode of transportation for commuters. Chartered Bikes, which are lightweight and powerful electric bikes, provide easy transportation within GIFT City. Chartered Speed will manage, operate and maintain the fleet services from beginning to end. The charging infrastructure will also be developed in GIFT city. A fleet of 10 electric buses and 50 electric bikes can save on average fuel of 5.5 lakh litres per year and reduce carbon emissions by up to 1450 tonnes.
