Yulu, an electric mobility-as-a-service (e-MaaS) platform in India, has launched its electric vehicle delivery services in Nashik, Maharashtra, under its Yulu Business Partner (YBP) vertical. The company has partnered with Approach Auto Mobility, a venture led by entrepreneur Jai Dhanani, to expand its electric vehicle-powered last-mile delivery ecosystem in the city. The launch marks Yulu’s second market in Maharashtra after Mumbai and its ninth franchise-led operation in the past two years.

Nashik has witnessed growing demand for digital commerce and doorstep delivery services. The city currently has more than 25 operational dark stores and around 1,500 high-volume restaurants. According to the company, daily deliveries across the city have doubled over the past year to approximately 25,000. The demand for quick commerce and on-demand services is expected to increase further as more consumers adopt digital shopping and food delivery platforms.

However, a significant share of these deliveries continues to depend on petrol-powered two-wheelers. Delivery partners face recurring expenses related to fuel, vehicle maintenance and loan repayments, affecting their overall earnings. Yulu aims to address these challenges by introducing an affordable electric mobility solution designed specifically for commercial delivery operations.

Under the new partnership, Yulu will deploy an initial fleet of 100 DeX electric two-wheelers, operating from a Yulu Centre located in Rajiv Nagar. The service will initially cover Nashik city, with plans to expand into surrounding areas based on demand.

The company’s electric mobility offering combines purpose-built electric two-wheelers, fleet management technology and battery-swapping infrastructure operated through Yuma Energy. Its pricing plans include energy, maintenance and insurance costs, allowing delivery partners to access EVs without managing multiple operational expenses.

The battery-swapping network is designed to reduce vehicle downtime, with riders able to replace depleted batteries within minutes and continue their delivery operations. Yulu stated that delivery partners using its electric vehicles can retain 30–40% more earnings compared with petrol bike users, primarily through lower operating costs.

Commenting on the launch, Amit Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of Yulu, said that non-metro cities are expected to play an important role in India’s next phase of electric mobility adoption. He highlighted the growing demand for reliable and affordable delivery solutions in Nashik, driven by expanding quick-commerce operations and changing consumer preferences.

Jai Dhanani, Founder of Approach Auto Mobility, said the partnership would support the company’s objective of making electric vehicle-powered deliveries more accessible in Nashik. He added that the model would help delivery partners reduce their cost per kilometre while providing businesses with a dependable, low-emission delivery fleet.

With the Nashik launch, Yulu has expanded its presence to 13 cities across India. Its franchise-led operations already cover Indore, Bhopal, Kochi, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Chandigarh Tricity. The company also directly operates in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad. The expansion reflects its strategy to increase EV adoption in tier-2 and tier-3 cities through partnerships and commercial mobility services.
