Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has officially launched the second-generation Kicks compact SUV in Japan, with sales commencing on June 18. The all-new model introduces significant upgrades in electrification, design, safety, and driving performance, reinforcing its position as a key vehicle in Nissan’s lineup.
The new Kicks is the first vehicle in Japan to feature Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER system, paired with a newly developed 5-in-1 electric powertrain unit that integrates the motor, generator, inverter, reducer, and increaser into a compact package. Combined with a 1.4-liter HR14DDe engine dedicated to power generation, the system delivers improved fuel efficiency, reduced weight, and enhanced cabin quietness.
For the first time in the Kicks lineup, Nissan has also introduced its e-4ORCE electric all-wheel-drive technology. The system combines precise motor torque control and brake management to improve cornering performance, ride comfort, and stability. A new Snow Mode on e-4ORCE variants further enhances confidence on slippery roads.
“The Kicks is a core model for Nissan and plays an important role in delivering the value of electrification technologies to more customers,” said Akira Sugimoto, Nissan’s corporate executive responsible for Japan Marketing & Sales. He noted that the new model showcases Nissan’s commitment to design, performance, and comfort.
Visually, the redesigned Kicks adopts a bold and athletic SUV appearance. The front fascia draws inspiration from an American football helmet, featuring a wide grille and signature lighting. Inside, the cabin offers premium materials, class-leading passenger space, and Zero Gravity seats for enhanced comfort. Higher trims include dual 12.3-inch displays and a NissanConnect infotainment system with built-in Google services.
Safety has also been upgraded under Nissan’s 360° Safety Assist package. ProPILOT remains standard across all grades, while the Intelligent Around View Monitor now adds Front Wide View, Invisible Hood View, and 3D View functions. Enhanced Intelligent Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert further strengthen driver assistance capabilities.
The all-new Kicks is available in both front-wheel-drive and e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive configurations. Pricing starts at ¥2,999,700 for the entry-level X Simple Package and rises to ¥4,248,200 for the flagship G e-4ORCE variant, including consumption tax.
With advanced hybrid technology, a refreshed design, and expanded safety features, Nissan aims to strengthen the Kicks’ appeal among customers seeking an efficient and versatile compact SUV.
