At Auto China 2026, Audi unveiled a bold expansion of its China-focused strategy, introducing new models, technologies, and partnerships tailored specifically to the world’s largest automotive market.

The highlight of Audi’s showcase was the global premiere of the AUDI E7X, a fully electric SUV and the second production model from its China-exclusive AUDI sub-brand. Designed in collaboration with Chinese partner SAIC, the E7X blends German engineering with deep integration into China’s digital ecosystem. The model offers up to 750 km of range (CLTC), advanced AI-powered assistance, and a luxurious interior featuring zero-gravity seating and a 21.4-inch rear display.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner emphasized the significance of the move, stating that 2026 marks a new phase in the company’s largest-ever product initiative in China, driven by a dual-brand strategy and increased localization.

Alongside the E7X, Audi reinforced its premium lineup with the introduction of the Audi A6L e-tron and updated combustion-engine variants like the A6L. Built in partnership with FAW, the electric A6L e-tron features an extended wheelbase, a battery capacity of up to 107 kWh, and a range of up to 815 km. Advanced features such as augmented reality displays and Level 2++ driver assistance systems highlight Audi’s push toward high-tech mobility.

Audi’s long-standing success in China—where it recently surpassed 10 million customers—continues to shape its strategy. By combining global expertise with local partnerships, the company aims to meet the diverse needs of Chinese consumers, from traditional combustion vehicles to cutting-edge electric and connected cars.

The brand also leveraged the event to showcase its entry into Formula 1 with the Audi R26, underlining its ambition to expand global visibility and technological leadership.

With a mix of innovation, localization, and strategic alliances, Audi is positioning itself for sustained growth in China’s rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
