Atul Auto Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with Exponent Energy to develop and deploy rapid-charging electric three-wheelers, marking a major push toward electrification in India’s commercial vehicle segment.

As part of the agreement, the companies have committed to rolling out at least 15,000 Exponent-powered passenger electric three-wheelers over the next three years—one of the largest scale-ups of rapid-charging EVs in this category.

The collaboration will integrate Atul Auto’s vehicles with Exponent Energy’s OTO mobility platform, a unified system combining advanced battery technology, powertrain solutions, and vehicle software. Initially proven in retrofit deployments, the platform will now be incorporated into new OEM-level vehicle production.

A key highlight of the partnership is Exponent’s proprietary rapid-charging technology, which enables a full charge in just 15 minutes—among the fastest globally for commercial vehicles. The system is designed for high-performance, intensive daily usage and is supported by a warranty of up to 2 lakh kilometers, addressing concerns around battery life and long-term value.

In addition to Exponent’s own fast-charging network, the platform remains compatible with standard public and home charging infrastructure, offering flexibility to drivers in their daily operations.

For customers, the partnership promises improved earnings potential through faster turnaround times, increased vehicle uptime, and lower operating costs compared to conventional electric three-wheelers.

Exponent Energy will also support financing through its recently launched platform, Exponent One, led by Sandeep Divakaran. The offering includes embedded insurance and structured buyback options, aimed at reducing upfront costs and making EV ownership more accessible.

Arun Vinayak, CEO and Founder of Exponent Energy, said the collaboration brings together rapid charging, financing, and vehicle technology at scale, addressing key barriers to EV adoption. He highlighted Atul Auto’s deep market understanding as a critical factor in expanding the platform into OEM-integrated vehicles.

Neeraj Chandra, Managing Director of Atul Auto, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the company’s legacy of delivering reliable vehicles while advancing its transition to electric mobility.

By combining manufacturing expertise with advanced charging solutions, the two companies aim to accelerate EV adoption in India’s fast-growing three-wheeler segment, a crucial pillar of urban and last-mile transportation.
