Ultraviolette has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, as the electric vehicle manufacturer expands its production capacity to support growth in India and international markets.
The facility, named the BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory, will be developed at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Shoolagiri, with the Government of Tamil Nadu facilitating the allotment of land. The plant is planned to reach an annual manufacturing capacity of 250,000 vehicles in phases, with infrastructure designed to scale production to 500,000 vehicles annually based on market demand.
The facility will manufacture Ultraviolette’s Tesseract electric scooter and is also expected to support the company’s future electric vehicle portfolio across Sports, Crossover, Cruiser, Street and Scooter segments.
Facility to Create Around 2,000 Jobs
The BIGGA Factory is expected to create approximately 2,000 employment opportunities during its initial phase, with the workforce expected to increase as production operations expand over the next five years.
Ultraviolette’s existing manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka, will continue to operate alongside the new Hosur plant. The company said the two facilities will strengthen its manufacturing and technology operations in southern India.
The Hosur location provides access to an established automotive manufacturing ecosystem, supply-chain infrastructure and Ultraviolette’s existing supplier network. Its proximity to Bengaluru also places the facility close to the company’s research and development operations.
Industry 4.0 Technologies Planned
The BIGGA Factory is being designed around Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles, with digital systems and automation planned across key production processes.
The facility will use a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for real-time production tracking and traceability, alongside digital lean manufacturing and quality-management systems.
Automation will include collaborative robots for sorting, welding and assembly, automated assembly error-proofing systems and vision-based inspection technologies. These systems are intended to improve manufacturing precision, consistency and production efficiency.
The facility will also include a specialised test track where vehicles will undergo testing and evaluation before dispatch.
Tesseract Production and Future EV Portfolio
The new manufacturing facility is expected to provide Ultraviolette with additional capacity for the production of the Tesseract electric scooter while creating infrastructure for future models.
According to the company, the plant has been designed with scalability and flexibility to allow production volumes and vehicle categories to expand as its product portfolio develops.
Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder and CEO of Ultraviolette, said the new facility will provide the manufacturing capacity required to scale the company’s existing and future products for customers in India and international markets.
Niraj Rajmohan, Co-founder and CTO of Ultraviolette, said the Hosur facility’s location and access to the automotive ecosystem and supplier network would support the company’s plans to expand electric vehicle manufacturing.
The planned investment marks a new phase in Ultraviolette’s manufacturing expansion as the company seeks to increase production capacity and develop India-based electric vehicle manufacturing capabilities for domestic and international markets.
