Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TATA.ev) have reported more than 70,000 charging sessions across 10 co-branded Mega Charger hubs in India. The network has clocked over 85,000 hours of charging, supporting more than 75 lakh electric kilometres and helping avoid an estimated 6,690 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
The charging network spans Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and comprises 25 fast chargers with 56 charging guns and a combined capacity of 2.7 MW. Individual charging hubs have capacities ranging from 180 kW to 600 kW, allowing multiple electric vehicles to charge simultaneously.
Four hubs are located along the Yamuna Expressway between Greater Noida and Agra, while three are positioned on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada corridor. Another hub serves the Bengaluru–Tirupati route, and one is located along the Pune–Bengaluru corridor. Two additional hubs support intra-city EV charging in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Mumbai Hub Offers 600 kW Charging Capacity
The Leela Mega Charger hub in Mumbai, located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, is the largest site in the network. It has 16 charging guns, including six 60 kW and two 120 kW fast chargers, with a total capacity of 600 kW. The facility can accommodate charging for up to 16 EVs simultaneously.
The hub is positioned to serve private EV owners as well as taxis, ride-hailing fleets and other high-frequency users operating around Mumbai’s airport and business corridors.
Tata Power Expands Charging Infrastructure
The Mega Charger network forms part of Tata Power’s broader EV charging ecosystem, which includes more than 6,700 public and captive charging points, over 2.5 lakh home chargers and more than 1,200 bus charging points across over 690 cities and towns.
Tata Power has set a target of expanding its network to 10,000 public charging points and 7.5 lakh home chargers by 2030.
The TATA.ev Mega Charging Hub initiative is aimed at expanding high-speed charging infrastructure across major highway corridors and urban locations. Several hubs can be accessed through Tata Power’s EZ Charge app, enabling users to locate and access charging facilities.
The expansion reflects the growing focus on high-capacity charging infrastructure to support the adoption of electric vehicles across intercity and urban mobility networks in India.
