Jio-bp, the operating brand of Reliance BP Mobility Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with electric vehicle leasing platform DRIVN to explore opportunities to strengthen charging infrastructure for commercial electric vehicles, including buses and trucks, across India.
The collaboration brings together DRIVN’s commercial EV leasing capabilities and Jio-bp’s EV charging network. The companies will explore solutions aimed at addressing the charging requirements of commercial fleet operators and supporting the wider adoption of electric mobility.
Under the MoU, Jio-bp and DRIVN will evaluate the integration of Jio-bp’s charging network with DRIVN’s leasing platform. This may include making charging locations more accessible to fleet drivers through the leasing platform.
The companies will also explore preferential charging tariffs and turnkey EV charging projects across selected cities and highways. The proposed collaboration is focused on addressing charging requirements based on commercial EV routes, battery capacities and operating patterns.
Jio-bp operates the Jio-bp pulse EV charging network, with a focus on fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The company said it has developed charging infrastructure across priority pan-India corridors and locations, including for electric buses and trucks.
Alpna Jain, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at DRIVN, said charging infrastructure needs to align with the routes and operational requirements of commercial EV fleets. She added that the collaboration with Jio-bp could help make charging infrastructure easier for fleet operators to locate and use.
Jio-bp Chairman Sarthak Behuria said commercial fleets, particularly electric buses and trucks, are an important part of India’s transition to electric mobility and require charging infrastructure suited to their operational needs.
Akshay Wadhwa, CEO of Jio-bp, said the company would work with DRIVN to explore charging and financing solutions designed for commercial fleet operators.
The MoU is intended to support the development of a charging ecosystem for electric buses and trucks and contribute to the expansion of commercial electric mobility across India.
