Greenply Industries Limited has partnered with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd to integrate LNG-powered transportation into its outbound logistics operations, marking a move towards lower-emission freight transportation in India.
The partnership was formally launched with the flag-off of GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks at Greenply’s manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. Under the collaboration, Greenply will use GreenLine’s green logistics network to transport products from its Vadodara facility to destinations across its distribution network.
The initiative introduces an alternative-fuel transportation option into Greenply’s logistics operations as the company seeks to extend its sustainability efforts beyond manufacturing and into transportation and distribution.
LNG Trucks to Support Lower-Emission Freight
GreenLine’s LNG-powered heavy trucks are positioned as a lower-emission alternative to conventional diesel-powered freight vehicles. According to the company, its LNG trucks can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 40%, SOx by up to 100%, NOx by up to 59%, particulate matter by up to 91% and CO by up to 70%, depending on vehicle configuration, fuel quality and operating conditions.
The partnership comes as alternative fuels gain increasing relevance in India’s commercial transportation sector, particularly for long-haul freight operations where companies are looking to reduce emissions while maintaining supply-chain efficiency.
“At Greenply, we believe that sustainability is not limited to what happens within our manufacturing facilities. It also extends to how our products and materials move through the value chain,” said Sanidhya Mittal, Joint Managing Director, Greenply Industries.
He added that the introduction of LNG-powered trucks at the Vadodara facility represents a first step towards exploring more responsible mobility solutions within Greenply’s logistics operations, while balancing environmental considerations with supply-chain efficiency and reliability.
Greenply to Evaluate Alternative-Fuel Logistics
The deployment will also enable Greenply to evaluate the operational feasibility of LNG-powered transportation across its dispatch network.
The company said it will continue to assess opportunities to incorporate alternative and lower-emission mobility solutions across its logistics ecosystem, based on operational requirements and learnings from the initiative.
Madhur Taneja, CEO, GreenLine Mobility Solutions, said the partnership would support the adoption of cleaner freight transportation without compromising operational efficiency.
“The transition to lower-emission logistics requires practical solutions that can be integrated into existing supply chains without compromising operational efficiency,” Taneja said.
GreenLine Expands LNG and Electric Truck Fleet
GreenLine is developing a lower-emission road freight network in India through its fleet of LNG- and electric-powered heavy commercial vehicles.
The company operates more than 1,000 vehicles across major freight corridors, serving sectors including steel, cement, mining, FMCG and chemicals. Its fleet has collectively travelled more than 100 million kilometres and, according to GreenLine, has helped customers avoid more than 27,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
For Greenply, the partnership represents an expansion of its sustainability efforts across its wider value chain, with logistics and distribution emerging as additional areas for reducing the environmental impact associated with its operations.
