Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast has officially become a member of the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO), marking a strategic step to deepen its presence in Indonesia’s automotive market and reinforce its commitment to advancing green mobility across the archipelago.

Founded in 1969, GAIKINDO plays a pivotal role in bridging automotive businesses and the Indonesian government. The association has intensified efforts to promote “green vehicle” manufacturing amid the global push for sustainable transportation solutions. VinFast’s membership opens doors for closer collaboration on industry policies and supports its long-term vision of fostering Indonesia’s EV ecosystem.

Since entering Indonesia, VinFast has rapidly expanded its footprint with a lineup of five electric vehicles ranging from the compact VF 3 mini-SUV to the larger C-SUV VF 7. The company’s growth is supported by a modern assembly plant in Subang and strategic alliances with local pioneers such as Green SM, the country’s first all-electric taxi service, and V-GREEN, a global EV charging infrastructure developer.

VinFast’s network now includes 24 showrooms across major cities like Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Bali, with authorized service centers operated by Otoklix and BOS, poised to grow to hundreds nationwide this year. Attractive sales incentives, including free charging through V-GREEN’s network, 0% interest financing, and a guaranteed buyback program of up to 90%, make VinFast’s EVs highly accessible to Indonesian consumers.

VinFast Indonesia CEO Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto remarked, Joining GAIKINDO is a milestone that symbolizes both recognition and responsibility. We are committed to collaborating with industry partners and regulators to accelerate Indonesia’s green transition and help realize its sustainable transportation ambitions.

GAIKINDO Chairman Yohanes Nangoi welcomed the new member, stating, VinFast brings fresh momentum to Indonesia’s automotive sector. Their participation will help expand EV infrastructure and promote wider adoption of clean mobility solutions throughout the country.

VinFast’s GAIKINDO membership signals a promising new chapter in Indonesia’s journey toward greener, more sustainable transportation — aligning with the nation’s vision for a cleaner automotive future.
