Chevrolet has just unveiled the most extreme iteration of the Corvette yet: the 2026 ZR1X, a 1,250-horsepower hybrid supercar that shatters expectations of American performance vehicles. Touted as the most powerful and most technologically advanced Corvette ever, the ZR1X marks a historic leap for the iconic nameplate, combining the brute force of a twin-turbo V8 with a high-powered electric front axle.
At its core, the ZR1X is driven by the all-new LT7 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1,064 horsepower, the highest figure ever achieved by a production V8 from an American automaker. That raw power is complemented by an enhanced e-motor on the front axle—borrowed and evolved from the Corvette E-Ray—adding 186 additional horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque, pushing total system output to a staggering 1,250 horsepower.
Breakneck Speed, Track-Tuned Precision
GM engineers estimate the ZR1X can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds, with a projected quarter-mile time of less than nine seconds—figures that put it squarely in hypercar territory. Unlike the E-Ray, which disengages its front motor at 150 mph, the ZR1X extends that limit to 160 mph, ensuring full eAWD performance for longer drag runs.
Braking That Rivals Its Speed
To tame such incredible power, Chevrolet introduced the J59 braking system—featuring 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors and 10-piston front calipers. This setup offers unmatched thermal endurance and responsiveness. During racetrack tests, the ZR1X decelerated from 180 to 120 mph at an astonishing 1.9G of braking force, setting new internal records for GM.
Intelligent Power Control
Engineered with motorsport-inspired versatility, the ZR1X features three innovative drive modes:
- Endurance – optimizes eAWD output across an entire fuel tank
- Qualifying – maximizes power for peak lap performance
- Push-to-Pass – unleashes maximum power for overtaking
Street Comfort Meets Supercar Savagery
Despite its ferocity on track and strip, the ZR1X doesn’t compromise on comfort. The redesigned interior debuts with customizable digital instrumentation, premium materials, and options including a high-downforce ZTK aero package and choice between coupe or hardtop convertible configurations.
Built in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the ZR1X blends American craftsmanship with global innovation. Expected to hit showrooms in late 2025, the 2026 Corvette ZR1X represents the pinnacle of Chevrolet’s performance legacy and GM’s electrification ambition.
