ENNOVI, a leading mobility electrification solutions partner, has unveiled its latest innovation, ENNOVI-SealTech, a patent-pending busbar sealing technology designed to prevent coolant leakage in electric and hybrid vehicle (xEV) drivetrain applications. This advanced solution promises to revolutionize the way manufacturers manage electrical interconnects in systems such as motors, inverters, and oil pumps.
Addressing one of the critical challenges in EV design—separating coolant from sensitive electrical connections—ENNOVI-SealTech offers a more reliable and efficient alternative to conventional sealing methods like potting, rubber O-rings, or gaskets. These traditional techniques often involve costly and time-consuming secondary processes and are prone to leakage over time.
“Managing busbar interfaces in EVs where coolant is present on one side and a dry, electrically robust connection is required on the other side presents several challenges,” said Dominik Pawlik, Product Portfolio Director for Power Interconnects at ENNOVI. “ENNOVI-SealTech overcomes all these limitations.”
The technology offers two advanced sealing methods—double-walled shrink tubes and adhesive tape—eliminating the need for post-processing while delivering superior sealing performance. These solutions enhance both manufacturing efficiency and design flexibility, making them ideal for a wide range of drivetrain architectures.
ENNOVI has subjected SealTech to rigorous testing to ensure durability and reliability under extreme conditions. This includes:
Thermal aging at 150°C for 1,000 hours
Thermal shock cycling from -40°C to +150°C for 600 cycles
Comprehensive leak tests as per EN 60068-2 standard
The adaptability of ENNOVI-SealTech allows it to conform to virtually any busbar geometry. It is also compatible with a wide variety of materials, including copper, aluminum, and plastics like PA66, PBT, and PC—making it a versatile solution for modern EV design requirements.
As electrified mobility continues to advance, innovations like ENNOVI-SealTech are set to play a pivotal role in improving performance, safety, and efficiency in next-generation vehicles.
