In a move set to revolutionize its site project operations, bp has announced the formation of a strategic alliance with Worley, aiming to enhance efficiency, continuous improvement, and value creation across bp’s global Site Projects organization. This alliance builds upon a decade-long successful collaboration between the two companies and is expected to save an estimated US$40 million over the next two years in key locations.

The alliance will target capital efficiency improvements in regions where Worley currently holds service contracts, including the Gulf of Mexico, Oman, Mauritania, and Senegal’s oil and gas producing areas, as well as bp’s refineries in Cherry Point, Whiting, Rotterdam, Gelsenkirchen, and Lingen.

This marks the first time bp has formed such an alliance with its operations business. Niall Maguire, bp’s Vice President of Site Projects, emphasized the alliance’s focus on improving safety, reducing emissions, prioritizing high-value activities, and cutting costs. “This alliance increases our operational effectiveness through centralization, standardization, and simplification, helping us safely grow the value of bp,” Maguire stated.

By leveraging digital capabilities and global scale, the partnership aims to drive efficiency across engineering, procurement, construction development, and management. Mark Brantley, Group President EMEA and APAC at Worley, highlighted the alliance’s foundation on shared objectives, trust, and commitment to excellence. “Our shared history and values position us well to identify and implement solutions as we continue to create value and deliver sustainable change throughout bp’s portfolio of projects,” Brantley said.

Earlier this year, Worley signed a five-year global framework agreement with bp to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services across bp’s global refinery assets and new energy initiatives. This agreement further cements Worley’s role in supporting bp’s legacy upstream businesses.

The new strategic alliance is poised to deliver significant improvements in operational effectiveness and sustainable change, reinforcing bp and Worley’s dedication to innovation and excellence in the energy sector.
