In a remarkable start to the year, Ford Motor Company has announced robust sales figures for the first quarter of 2024, buoyed by a surge in demand for hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs) across its diverse product portfolio. The company’s strategic focus on offering customers a wide array of choices spanning gas, hybrid, and electric vehicles has proven to be a winning formula, catapulting Ford to the forefront of the automotive industry.
Amidst the backdrop of Ford’s commitment to providing customers with freedom of choice, the company reported a 7 percent increase in sales for Ford and Lincoln vehicles, outpacing the overall industry. Notably, Ford Maverick emerged as America’s top-selling hybrid truck in Q1, with sales soaring by 77 percent year-over-year to reach 19,660 units. This achievement underscores Ford’s success in attracting new customers to its brand through innovative offerings in the hybrid segment.
The overall hybrid sales for Ford witnessed an impressive growth of 42 percent in Q1, totaling 38,421 vehicles. The introduction of the new F-150 hybrid is expected to further propel hybrid sales, reflecting Ford’s commitment to expanding its presence in the hybrid vehicle market.
Commenting on the company’s performance, Andrew Frick, President of Ford Blue, expressed confidence in the forthcoming impact of the new F-150 across gas, hybrid, and electric vehicle segments. Frick emphasized Ford’s dedication to providing customers with a diverse range of choices, aligning with the evolving preferences of modern drivers.
Ford’s dominance in the truck segment was underscored by the strong performance of the Maverick, which retained its position as America’s best-selling midsize pickup, surpassing competitors like Toyota’s Tacoma. Furthermore, the F-Series began the year as America’s best-selling truck, with total sales reaching 152,943 units, further solidifying Ford’s leadership in the pickup segment.
In addition to trucks, Ford’s SUV lineup delivered exceptional results, achieving an all-time best quarter with total sales of 216,997 units, up 15 percent from the previous year. Noteworthy performers included the Explorer, Escape, Bronco Sport, and Expedition, showcasing Ford’s strength in the SUV market.
Meanwhile, Lincoln, Ford’s luxury brand, witnessed a notable uptick in sales, with total sales accelerating by 31 percent to reach 24,894 units in Q1. The all-new Lincoln Nautilus, in particular, achieved record sales, marking a significant milestone for the brand since its launch in 2018.
On the electric vehicle front, Ford reported a strong start to the year, with EV sales surging by 86 percent in Q1. The Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning emerged as standout performers, underscoring Ford’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
Furthermore, Ford’s commercial vehicle segment continued its impressive performance, with Transit van sales recording a record start to the year, while Ford Pro EV adoption witnessed significant growth among commercial customers.
With the introduction of the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger and a promising outlook for the Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Expedition, Ford is poised for continued growth and success in the evolving automotive landscape.
