Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune 500 Maharatna Energy Company, has partnered with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM) to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across India. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aims to leverage BPCL’s extensive fuel station network and TPEM’s insights from over 115,000 Tata EVs on Indian roads to set up charging stations at frequented locations for Tata EV owners. Additionally, BPCL intends to gather usage data to enhance the customer charging experience.

This collaboration focuses on elevating the overall EV ownership experience nationwide. Both entities are exploring the introduction of a streamlined payment system, possibly through a co-branded RFID card, to simplify transactions for Tata EV users and encourage broader EV adoption in the country.

With a network of more than 21,000 fuel stations, BPCL is committed to a sustainable future and plans to install 7,000 EV charging stations by the upcoming year. The company has initiated over 90 Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Highway Corridors spanning more than 30,000 kilometers across major highways, ensuring a charging station approximately every 100 kilometers to address range concerns for EV owners.
