FlixBus has partnered with Green Drive Mobility to introduce electric intercity bus services between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, marking a significant step toward sustainable long-distance travel in India.

Under the first phase of the partnership, four electric buses will operate on the Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam corridor, one of Andhra Pradesh’s busiest intercity travel routes. The companies said the initiative is aimed at improving passenger comfort, reducing carbon emissions, and strengthening connectivity between the two cities.

The collaboration combines FlixBus’s digital travel platform, ticketing network, and demand-generation capabilities with Green Drive Mobility’s expertise in electric fleet operations and EV mobility infrastructure.

Officials said the electric buses will offer passengers zero-emission travel on a tank-to-wheel basis while featuring modern amenities and seamless digital booking through the FlixBus platform.

Harikrishna described the partnership as a major milestone in expanding electric intercity mobility in India. He said deploying EV buses on the Vijayawada–Vizag route would help reduce emissions while providing a more comfortable and sustainable travel experience.

Surya Khurana said India presents strong growth potential for technology-enabled and environmentally responsible transport solutions. He added that the collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s broader push toward transport electrification and cleaner mobility systems.

The Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam route connects two major economic and cultural centres in Andhra Pradesh and experiences high passenger demand throughout the year. Industry experts believe the deployment of electric coaches on the corridor could contribute to lowering emissions in the intercity transportation sector while improving operational efficiency.

The initiative also reflects a growing trend among mobility companies to adopt electric vehicle technology for long-distance passenger transport as India accelerates efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve urban and regional air quality.

Green Drive Mobility said it plans to expand electric intercity bus operations to additional routes across South India in the future, supporting the broader transition toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions in the country.
