Uber Launches Sustainovate Startup Challenge and Accepting Entries Now

In a groundbreaking initiative, Uber has unveiled its startup challenge, ‘Sustainovate’, aimed at promoting innovative solutions to expedite the adoption of sustainable mobility across India. In partnership with Startup India and Nasscom AI, the competition is tailored to recognize startups with groundbreaking ideas that can pave the way for a sustainable mobility transformation in the nation.

The winning startup stands a chance to secure a grant of $120,000 (approximately Rs 1 crore), and the top three entries will receive exclusive mentorship sessions with Uber’s tech leadership in India, enhancing their skills and expertise.

As part of Uber’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, the ‘Sustainovate’ challenge focuses on reducing tailpipe emissions and fostering an ecosystem where startups are encouraged to work on sustainable solutions. Uber aims to harness the innovative potential of startups, recognizing them as a source of new and revolutionary solutions given India’s dense tech talent.

Startups participating in the challenge can choose from four distinct tracks to concentrate their ideas on:

  • Smart Infrastructure and Charging Solutions
  • Enhanced Charging Infrastructure Interoperability
  • Enhancing Viability for Drivers and Commercial Fleet Owners
  • Optimizing Asset Utilization

The challenge is currently open for entries until October 18, 2023. The selection process involves multiple rounds, evaluating ideas, proof of concept, working prototypes, and alignment with Uber’s sustainability mission and values.
