Ola Electric’s August 2023 Sales Surge: 19,000 Units Registered, 400% YoY Increase

Ola Electric, India’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, continues to maintain its stronghold in the electric two-wheeler (2W) segment, marking a year of consecutive market leadership. In August, approximately 19,000 units were registered, reflecting a remarkable year-on-year growth of over 400% compared to the same period last year. Ola has consistently held a market share of around 30% throughout August.

The month of August marked a transition from the Gen-1 to Gen-2 phase, and the company also expanded its manufacturing capacity during this time.

Ankush Aggarwal, Chief Business Officer at Ola, commented, “August has been an exciting and busy month for us as we expanded our portfolio to include five scooters, catering to various price points. The expanded S1 lineup is poised to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and propel India toward eco-friendly mobility. With the festive season approaching, we anticipate robust sales and expect the EV industry to experience significant growth due to high consumer demand.”

Ola Electric’s new and expanded S1 scooter portfolio has garnered an impressive response, with over 75,000 bookings received within two weeks of its launch. The Ola Futurefactory is operating in all three shifts to increase production and meet market demand. Unveiled on Independence Day as part of Ola’s flagship event, the S1 Pro, S1 Air, S1X+, S1X (3kWh), and S1X (2kWh) are built on an advanced Gen-2 platform, making them highly competitive electric vehicle options across various price ranges.

S1 Pro

Priced at INR 1,47,499, the Gen-2 S1 Pro now features a twin-fork telescopic front suspension and flat floorboard, along with an extended range of 195 km. The scooter also boasts an industry-best top speed of 120 km/h, with purchases open and deliveries starting in mid-September.

S1 Air

Priced at INR 1,19,999, the S1 Air comes with a robust 3 kWh battery capacity, a peak motor power of 6kW, a certified range of 151 km, and an impressive top speed of 90 km/hr. Deliveries of the S1 Air have recently commenced in over 100 cities, with more to follow soon.

ICE-Killer S1X

Dubbed an “ICE-killer” product, the S1X is available in three variants: S1 X+, S1 X (2kWh), and S1 X (3kWh), catering to a diverse range of riders with varying needs. Both the S1 X+ and S1 X (3kWh) feature a powerful 6kW motor, a 3kWh battery providing a 151 km range, and a top speed of 90 km/h. The S1 X (2kWh) is equipped with a 6kW motor, a 2kWh battery offering a 91 km range, and a top speed of 85 km/h.

The S1 X+ is available for purchase at INR 1,09,999, with deliveries set to begin in September. Pre-reservation for the S1 X range starts at just INR 999. Deliveries for the S1 X (3kWh) and S1 X (2kWh) are scheduled to begin in December, priced attractively at INR 99,999 and INR 89,999, respectively.
