Delhi To Roll Out 400 Electric Buses Before G20 Summit

Around 400 electric buses are set to be introduced on the streets of Delhi prior to the G20 Summit, with some of them being deployed for the event before joining the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet. The commencement of these buses is scheduled for the early days of September. Kailash Gahlot, the transport minister, expressed the goal of creating a positive impression for visitors to the capital city during the G20 Summit. He highlighted Delhi’s role in pioneering clean fuel initiatives under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, which has not only improved travel convenience but has also significantly reduced pollution. These new electric buses exemplify the government’s commitment to cleaner energy and diminished carbon emissions.

Nitin Gadkari Launches World’s First Prototype Of The BS 6 Stage II ‘Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle’

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari launched the world’s first prototype of the BS 6 Stage II ‘Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle’, developed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor in the presence of Union Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minster Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey, MD & CEO of Toyota Shri Masakazu Yoshimura, MD & CEO of Kirloskar Systems Limited Geetanjali Kirloskar, Ambassador, Diplomats from Japan Embassy, higher officials and advisors in New Delhi. India is the fastest-growing large economy, and India’s fossil fuel consumption along with crude oil import is also rising rapidly. Due to a large increase in mobility needs, the transport sector, which currently accounts for about 50% of oil demand, will be the most significant contributor to this. 

Kerala Adds 60 Electric Buses To Fleet In Smart City Initiative

The Kerala government has introduced an additional fleet of 60 electric buses to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) as a part of the ongoing Smart City initiative. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan unveiled the new fleet during an event held in the capital city and handed them over to the Transport Minister, Antony Raju. Vijayan expressed on Facebook that an additional 53 buses of this nature will soon be included in the fleet. He emphasized that the Left government is committed to advancing its comprehensive urban development policy. Presently, there are 50 electric buses operational in the state capital.

River Electric, a startup based in Bangalore, officially introduced its highly anticipated electric scooter, the River Indie, in February 2023. On August 24th, River Electric marked a significant milestone as it rolled out the first River Indie from its production facility in Hoskote, Bengaluru. This step fulfils the company’s promise to its customers, and it is expected that more scooters will be delivered in the coming months. Priced at an introductory rate of Rs 1.25 lakh* (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the River Indie comes in three color options: Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow.

NueGo: GreenCell Mobility’s Electric Tourist Buses Set To Navigate Tamil Nadu’s Routes

GreenCell Mobility’s electric tourist bus service, NueGo, is set to operate on local routes in Tamil Nadu, as announced by the state government. NueGo, backed by GreenCell Mobility, has gained distinction as the first battery-operated transport vehicle to receive registration in the state, complying with the government directive for permits issued by the transport department. According to the Industries department’s social media post, GreenCell’s NueGo battery-operated buses will soon be a familiar sight on local routes within Tamil Nadu.

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has released a Request for Bids (RFB) for the construction of 283 backend infrastructure units to support Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) Charging Stations and Battery Swapping Stations. This initiative is in alignment with the revamped reforms-based and results-linked Distribution Sector Scheme. The RFB, issued on August 23, 2023, outlines the timeline for the bidding process. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for August 31, 2023, at 11:30 AM (IST), providing interested parties with the opportunity to gain insights and seek clarifications. The final date for the submission of bids is September 20, 2023, at 12:00 PM (IST), followed by the opening of the technical part of the bids on September 22, 2023, at 12:00 PM (IST).

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Invite Bids For Setting Up 22 EV Charging Stations

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced a tender for the establishment of 22 public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across its jurisdiction. The initiative will follow a build, own, and operate model, where the chosen bidder will be responsible for the project’s operation and maintenance for a period of eight years. Interested parties can submit their bids online until September 14, 2023, with bid opening scheduled for September 18. The anticipated project cost is approximately Rs. 151.8 million. Bidders are required to provide an earnest money deposit of Rs. 759,000, and the selected bidder must furnish a security deposit of Rs.7.59 million through a bank guarantee before the agreement’s execution.
