The Volkswagen Group has reported a notable increase in deliveries during the first quarter of 2024, with figures rising by 3% to reach 2.10 million vehicles. This growth was primarily driven by robust performances in key markets such as China, South America, and North America.

In China, the Group experienced an 8% increase in deliveries, consolidating its position as the largest single market. Notably, the all-electric segment witnessed remarkable growth, with deliveries soaring by an impressive 91% to reach 41,000 units. However, in Europe, the picture was mixed, with overall deliveries remaining stable but a slight decline observed in the all-electric segment, particularly in Western Europe where figures dropped by 24%.

Despite challenges in the all-electric vehicle segment, Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Group’s Extended Executive Committee for Sales, expressed optimism regarding the growth prospects, citing a positive trend in incoming orders for BEVs in Western Europe. The Group’s diversified product portfolio provides the flexibility to navigate fluctuations in demand across different segments, ensuring a solid delivery performance in a challenging market environment.

Deliveries in North America saw a 5% increase, with South America experiencing an even more significant growth of 14%. In Brazil, deliveries surged by an impressive 26%, highlighting the strong performance in the region.

Looking ahead, Wortmann emphasized the Group’s confidence in its growth trajectory, fueled by over 30 model launches planned across all drive types throughout the year. This diversified approach is expected to provide momentum for further growth in the coming months, both in the all-electric segment and globally.

Overall, the Volkswagen Group’s performance in the first quarter underscores its resilience and ability to adapt to changing market dynamics, positioning it for continued success in the competitive automotive landscape.
