BMW Group has revealed the Vision BMW ALPINA, a one-of-one design study that previews the future direction of the iconic ALPINA brand under BMW Group ownership. The concept made its global debut at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.

The Vision BMW ALPINA combines high-performance engineering with luxury comfort and sophisticated design, reflecting the brand’s long-standing philosophy that speed and refinement should coexist. BMW described the concept as the beginning of a new chapter for ALPINA following its integration into the BMW Group in 2026.

Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, said the company aims to preserve ALPINA’s unique identity while adapting it for a modern era. He noted that the concept demonstrates how the brand’s signature blend of performance and comfort can evolve through contemporary design and advanced technology.

The grand touring coupe stretches 5.2 meters in length and features a long, flowing roofline designed to comfortably accommodate four passengers. Powered by a V8 engine, the concept retains ALPINA’s characteristic deep exhaust note while emphasizing long-distance driving comfort.

The exterior design introduces a modern interpretation of classic ALPINA styling cues, including the signature shark-nose front fascia, refined deco-lines, and distinctive multi-spoke wheels. BMW designers emphasized a “Second Read” philosophy, where subtle details and craftsmanship become more noticeable upon closer inspection.

Inside, the cabin combines architectural simplicity with luxury materials sourced from the Alpine region. Full-grain leather, crystal controls, precision metal finishes, and ambient lighting create a refined atmosphere focused on comfort and driver engagement.

A standout interior feature includes handcrafted crystal glasses and a glass water bottle integrated into the rear console through a self-deploying mechanism, underlining the concept’s focus on luxury touring experiences.

The Vision BMW ALPINA also incorporates BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive system and a specially developed digital interface featuring ALPINA’s traditional blue and green design themes. The system adapts visually as drivers switch between Comfort+ and Speed driving modes.

BMW said the concept draws inspiration from the legendary ALPINA B7 Coupe of the late 1970s, a vehicle widely regarded as a milestone in combining luxury and high-performance motoring.

With the Vision BMW ALPINA, BMW signals its intention to preserve ALPINA’s heritage while redefining modern luxury performance for the future automotive era.
