BMW Group has unveiled the updated BMW 7 Series in Europe for the first time at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, where the luxury automaker is serving as the official mobility partner for the fifth consecutive year.

As part of its partnership with the prestigious international film event, BMW deployed a fleet of over 150 electrified vehicles, including the fully electric BMW i7, BMW iX, and the plug-in hybrid BMW XM, to provide premium transport services for filmmakers, celebrities, guests, and festival partners along the French Riviera.

The newly refreshed BMW 7 Series emerged as a key highlight at Cannes, showcasing the company’s latest advancements in luxury design, digital technology, electrification, and partially automated driving systems. The flagship sedan introduces several technologies inspired by BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse platform and signals the beginning of a broader technology rollout across future BMW models.

BMW said the luxury sedan features a redesigned exterior with the illuminated kidney grille, crystal headlights, and a first-of-its-kind dual-finish paintwork combining matte and metallic surfaces seamlessly. Inside, the vehicle integrates advanced digital features such as the BMW Panoramic iDrive display, upgraded Theatre Screen, Passenger Screen, and immersive ambient lighting.

The company also highlighted enhanced driver assistance systems with artificial intelligence integration and BMW Symbiotic Drive technology aimed at improving interaction between the driver and vehicle.

Beyond mobility, BMW expanded its cultural engagement initiatives during the festival by announcing that its “BMW Art Makers” programme will extend into the film industry from 2027. The initiative aims to support emerging filmmakers and artistic talent globally.

The Cannes Film Festival also featured an exhibition of iconic BMW 7 Series models that have appeared in films and television productions such as Mission: Impossible, Red Sparrow, and Stranger Things.
