North American zero-emission refrigerated transport company Nivalis Energy Systems has announced the acquisition of SolarEdge e-Mobility, a European manufacturer of electrified refrigerated trailers, in a move set to strengthen its position in the global electric cold-chain logistics market.

The acquisition, finalized on February 11, 2026, gives Nivalis access to SolarEdge e-Mobility’s advanced engineering and research capabilities, including its new third-generation electrified trailer platform. The system combines three power sources — rooftop solar, regenerative e-axle technology, and grid charging — to maximize trailer autonomy and reduce dependence on diesel-powered refrigeration.

SolarEdge e-Mobility has more than 25 years of experience in electrification technology and serves logistics, retail, and pharmaceutical customers across Europe and Oceania. The deal also provides Nivalis with an established European service and market network, enabling the company to expand operations beyond North America while increasing manufacturing capacity to meet rising demand.

The combined company aims to address one of the cold-chain industry’s biggest challenges: diesel dependency in refrigerated transport. According to Nivalis CEO Sam Plunkett, refrigerated trailers remain among the last major diesel-reliant components in modern logistics operations.

“Electrified refrigeration is no longer simply a sustainability discussion — it’s become a commercial and operational one,” Plunkett said. He noted that diesel refrigeration systems are increasingly costly to operate and maintain, while retailers and global brands face growing pressure to improve emissions reporting and ESG performance.

At the upcoming ACT Expo 2026, Nivalis will showcase its commercially available TRU-POWER® refrigeration system, already deployed across North American grocery and logistics fleets since late 2023. The battery-powered system enables refrigerated trailers to operate with minimal grid charging, helping fleets reduce operating costs and maintenance requirements.

The company will also unveil its new third-generation platform, described as the world’s first clean-energy refrigerated transport solution powered by three integrated electric energy sources. Nivalis expects the platform to become commercially available in 2028, with fleet operators projected to achieve return on investment within two to three years.

Nivalis added that government incentives in parts of North America are currently covering up to 100% of electrified refrigeration system costs, significantly lowering the financial barriers for fleets transitioning away from diesel-powered transport refrigeration.
