Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has been awarded the “EV Manufacturer of the Year” title at the Times Drive Auto Summit & Awards 2026, marking another milestone in the company’s growing presence in India’s fast-evolving electric mobility market.

Organised by Times Network, the annual summit brings together policymakers, automotive leaders, and innovators to discuss the future of mobility while recognising excellence across the automotive industry.

VinFast received the award for its expanding electric vehicle portfolio, long-term investment strategy, and efforts to strengthen India’s EV ecosystem. The recognition comes amid the company’s aggressive push into the Indian market with a focus on product innovation, customer support, and sustainable mobility solutions.

Tapan Ghosh said the award validates the company’s long-term strategy in India.

“The recognition as ‘EV Manufacturer of the Year’ comes as a strong affirmation that we are on the right path in India,” Ghosh said. “Our effort has been towards simplifying EV adoption by combining relevant products with strong ownership support and long-term value.”

The latest recognition adds to a growing list of honours for VinFast in India. Its electric SUVs, the VinFast VF 7 and VinFast VF 6, also received major accolades at the BBC TopGear India Awards and Autocar India Awards respectively.

In 2026, VinFast expanded its Indian lineup with the launch of the VinFast VF MPV 7, marking the company’s entry into the electric MPV segment. The company said all its recently launched models have secured 5-star Bharat NCAP safety ratings.

Beyond vehicle launches, VinFast is strengthening its ownership ecosystem through buyback programmes, resale assurance initiatives, after-sales services, and charging infrastructure partnerships. The company is also promoting sustainability through its “Seeds of Change” initiative, where every VinFast test drive contributes to tree plantation and meal support for underserved children in India.
