In a significant move toward sustainable urban mobility, Green Xentro has launched the first phase of a 2,500-unit fleet of fully electric taxis in Rizal province, in partnership with global mobility platform Green GSM. The initiative marks one of the largest battery electric vehicle (BEV) taxi deployments in the Philippines to date.

The rollout, initially planned for 2,000 vehicles, has been scaled up to 2,500 units following a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2025. The Rizal deployment serves as the first phase, with further expansion planned across Metro Manila and surrounding areas.

The project introduces a partner-led operating model combining local expertise with global standards. Green Xentro is responsible for ground operations, including driver management and market adaptation, while Green GSM provides an integrated platform featuring electric vehicles, digital infrastructure, and standardized service protocols.

The platform enables real-time fleet monitoring and centralized safety management. Each taxi is equipped with GPS tracking, CCTV, dashcams, and emergency features such as panic buttons, all connected to a 24/7 monitoring system. The fleet is also fully insured to enhance passenger safety and reliability.

Passengers can expect consistent service quality through fully electric, air-conditioned vehicles, transparent pricing, and multiple payment options, including cash and digital methods. Services are accessible via street hailing or through the Green GSM mobile application.

A key highlight of the initiative is the introduction of a salaried driver model aimed at improving income stability and professionalism in the transport sector. Drivers receive fixed monthly salaries, performance-based incentives, statutory benefits, and specialized training in safety and EV operations.

Beyond transportation, the rollout is expected to contribute to local economic growth by creating jobs and supporting the development of EV charging infrastructure across commercial hubs. The all-electric fleet also aligns with national efforts to reduce emissions and improve urban air quality.

Green Xentro CEO Noel M. Ignacio described the initiative as a long-term investment in building a more reliable and sustainable transport system. Meanwhile, Dao Quy Phi emphasized the scalability of the model, highlighting its potential to accelerate EV adoption across emerging markets.

The Philippines rollout marks a key milestone in Green GSM’s international expansion strategy. The model, previously developed in Vietnam, is now being localized to suit regional market conditions while maintaining global standards of safety and service.

Green Xentro, a subsidiary of Xentro Group led by Chairman Alexander M. Cruz, aims to transform public transportation through sustainable and innovative EV solutions.
