Volvo Cars has unveiled a series of upgrades for the Volvo EX30, enhancing its appeal with new entry-level powertrains, premium interior options, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and improved user experience features for the upcoming model year.
The Swedish automaker said the updates aim to strengthen the EX30’s position in the fast-growing premium entry-level electric SUV segment while improving everyday usability for customers.
New Powertrain Options and Extended Range
The updated EX30 introduces a new entry-level powertrain delivering 110kW (150PS) paired with a 51kWh battery, offering a range of up to 339km (WLTP). The configuration is positioned as an ideal choice for urban commuters seeking a premium electric driving experience.
Customers looking for longer-range capability can opt for a 69kWh battery variant, offering up to 476km of range (WLTP). These additions expand the available configurations, allowing buyers to better match the vehicle to their driving needs.
The EX30 Cross Country range is also being expanded with the introduction of a Plus trim level and a more efficient single-motor option.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) Functionality
A key highlight of the update is the addition of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. This feature allows the EX30 to act as a mobile power source, enabling users to charge external devices such as electric bicycles or power appliances like tools, camping equipment and sound systems through a dedicated adapter.
The V2L feature, initially available in selected markets, will be rolled out via over-the-air (OTA) software updates, benefiting both new and existing EX30 customers.
Enhanced User Experience
Volvo Cars is also introducing a redesigned user interface (UX) system. The updated system brings essential controls closer to the driver and includes a customizable content bar for predictive and frequently used actions, enhancing overall convenience and ease of use.
The new UX improvements will also be delivered to current EX30 owners through OTA updates during the summer.
New Interior Themes and Black Edition Expansion
The EX30 will now offer two additional premium interior themes:
- Harvest, inspired by Scandinavian summer evenings, featuring light woven recycled textiles, Nordico upholstery made from recycled materials, dark flax décor and black headlining.
- Black, a deep-black interior with smooth Nordico upholstery and dark flax décor for a refined and timeless aesthetic.
The EX30 Black Edition will also be available with the new Black interior theme, along with exterior colour options including Onyx Black, Vapour Grey and Crystal White.
Driving Electrified Growth
Erik Severinson, Chief Commercial Officer at Volvo Cars, said the EX30 has been a leader in the premium entry-level electric car segment since launch. He added that the latest upgrades are expected to expand Volvo’s addressable market and support the company’s broader electrification strategy.
With enhanced range options, smart energy-sharing technology and upgraded interiors, the 2026 Volvo EX30 reinforces its position as a compact yet technologically advanced electric SUV tailored for modern mobility needs.
