JSW MG Motor India has achieved a major milestone by crossing 1 lakh electric vehicle (EV) sales in the country, becoming the second automaker after Tata Motors to reach this landmark. The milestone underscores the company’s growing dominance in India’s rapidly expanding electric mobility segment, driven primarily by the success of its Windsor and Windsor Pro electric SUVs.

According to the company, JSW MG recorded 26,640 EV deliveries between April and September 2025, marking an impressive 220% year-on-year growth. Electric vehicles now account for over 70% of MG’s monthly sales, aligning with the automaker’s target of achieving a 70–80% EV share in its portfolio.

The growth has been fuelled by the popularity of the MG Windsor, launched in September 2024, and its higher-range variant, the Windsor Pro, introduced in May 2025. Both models have strengthened MG’s position in the compact and mid-size EV SUV categories, appealing to Indian consumers with competitive pricing, advanced features, and strong performance metrics.

A key enabler of this success has been the company’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) business model, which allows customers to purchase the vehicle without the battery, significantly reducing upfront costs. Customers can instead opt for flexible battery subscription plans, making electric mobility more accessible and affordable in India’s price-sensitive market.

With this achievement, JSW MG’s EV market share has risen from 26% in late 2024 to 35% by mid-2025, cementing its status as one of India’s top EV manufacturers. Industry experts note that the company’s strategy has effectively balanced affordability, innovation, and sustainability — three key pillars driving India’s EV revolution.

The company’s performance also highlights the growing strength of India’s EV ecosystem. From charging infrastructure expansion to increased consumer confidence, the 100,000-unit milestone represents a significant step in the nation’s shift toward low-emission transportation.

JSW MG’s achievement comes amid intensifying competition in India’s EV sector, with major players like Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai, and BYD accelerating their electric portfolios. However, MG’s consistent growth and customer adoption rates indicate its strong positioning in the evolving market.
