BMW has officially unveiled the new iX3, the first series-produced model of the Neue Klasse, marking what Chairman Oliver Zipse called “a new era for BMW.”
The fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) introduces a bold new design language, sixth-generation eDrive technology, and a software-driven electronics architecture powered by four “superbrain” computers.
Key highlights include:
- Range: up to 805 km (500 miles, WLTP)
- Charging: up to 400 kW, adding 372 km in 10 minutes
- Power: 345 kW / 469 hp, 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds
- Production: starts autumn 2025 in Debrecen, Hungary; China-tailored version to follow in 2026
- Market Launch: Europe in spring 2026, USA in summer 2026
The iX3 also debuts BMW Panoramic iDrive, a digital cockpit blending windscreen-wide projection, central display, and AI-powered interaction. Sustainability was a design priority, with BMW claiming a 34% lower lifecycle carbon footprint versus its predecessor.
Zipse said: “The Neue Klasse is our biggest future project. What started as a bold vision has now become reality: the BMW iX3 is not just a successor, but the beginning of a new generation of Sheer Driving Pleasure.”
With cylindrical cell batteries, bidirectional charging, and a drag coefficient of just 0.24, the iX3 represents a leap in efficiency, while maintaining the hallmark BMW driving dynamics via its new “Heart of Joy” drivetrain management system.
The model spearheads BMW’s electrification push, with Neue Klasse technologies set to underpin 40 models by 2027.
