Masdar has released a new episode of its original documentary series, Power to Change, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a renewable energy leader through the perspective of the country’s youth innovators.
The episode follows Srrah AlGheithy and the Estidamah solar car team, an all-Saudi group of engineers who have designed and built a solar-powered electric vehicle capable of traveling 3,000 kilometers without recharging. This groundbreaking project reflects the Kingdom’s investment in youth-led technology and sustainable mobility.
To showcase their achievement, the Estidamah team is embarking on a 3,700-kilometer journey across Saudi Arabia—raising awareness of renewable energy, sparking national conversations on the future of clean transportation, and demonstrating the power of local innovation.
Estidamah’s mission aligns with the Kingdom’s broader transformation, which Masdar is proud to support through strategic partnerships and landmark projects. These include the 300 MW South Jeddah Noor Solar PV Plant—powering 45,000 homes and offsetting 430,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually—and Dumat Al Jandal, one of the Middle East’s largest wind farms, which displaces nearly 1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
By engaging with young innovators and supporting initiatives like Estidamah, Masdar is helping to build a culture of innovation in Saudi Arabia and reinforcing the critical role of clean technologies in shaping a sustainable future.
