Hyundai has reaffirmed its leadership in electric vehicle (EV) innovation with the IONIQ 6 securing first place in the “premium class” category and second overall in the prestigious P3 Charging Index 2024. This recognition highlights the IONIQ 6’s groundbreaking technological advancements and exceptional energy efficiency.
The IONIQ 6, powered by Hyundai’s cutting-edge 800-volt architecture, demonstrated ultrafast charging capabilities by recharging a range of 346 kilometers in just 20 minutes. During the P3 Charging Index tests, the 100% electric streamliner also achieved a peak charging power of over 235 kW and an average capacity of 193 kW, showcasing Hyundai’s ability to combine speed and efficiency.
Setting a benchmark in energy efficiency, the IONIQ 6 recorded the lowest energy consumption among all tested vehicles at just 15.5 kWh in the ADAC Ecotest. Its aerodynamic design, boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.21, played a pivotal role in delivering these impressive results.
The P3 Charging Index evaluates EVs based on their real-world charging performance between 10% and 80% state of charge (SoC), focusing on the range recharged in 10- and 20-minute intervals. In addition to excelling in the 20-minute test, the IONIQ 6 recharged 234 kilometers in just 10 minutes, further solidifying its status as a top-tier EV.
Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ 6 is available with two battery sizes (53.3 kWh or 77.4 kWh) and offers both rear- and all-wheel drive options. Its advanced Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology enables it to power external devices, transforming it into a mobile energy station.
This recognition by the P3 Charging Index underscores Hyundai’s commitment to pioneering sustainable mobility solutions. With a focus on design, efficiency, and innovation, the IONIQ 6 is set to redefine the EV landscape, making it an ideal choice for both daily commutes and long-distance journeys.
