Volvo Car India has introduced the C40 Recharge, an all-electric vehicle, with an initial ex-showroom price of Rs 61.25 lakh, plus applicable taxes. This marks the second electric model from Volvo in India, and it will be manufactured at the company’s Bengaluru plant in Karnataka. The vehicle comes equipped with an 11 kW charger.
According to Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, this launch aligns with their strategy to introduce a new electric model annually in the Indian market. The C40 Recharge is Volvo’s first all-electric car and features leather-free interiors and a range of distinctive features that emphasize its status as a fully electric, sporty, and contemporary vehicle. The C40 Recharge prioritizes responsible styling, incorporating Volvo’s stringent safety standards while providing sustainable mobility solutions. It has also received a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
The Volvo C40 Recharge offers a choice of eight different colors, including Black Stone, Fusion Red, Thunder Grey, Fjord Blue, Silver Down, Crystal White, Sage Green, and Onyx Black. In terms of dimensions, this electric vehicle measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,591 mm in height.
Inside the Volvo C40 Recharge, you’ll find a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Its features include heated and ventilated front seats, vegan upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charging pad, and an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS).
The Indian version of the Volvo C40 Recharge electric vehicle is equipped with two electric motors coupled with a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, resulting in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. These dual electric motors can deliver 402 bhp of peak power and 660 Nm of maximum torque. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h.
On a single charge, the India-spec Volvo C40 Recharge boasts a range of 530 km. When using a DC fast charger, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in 27 minutes, while an 11 kW level 2 charger takes eight hours for a full charge.
The ownership package for the C40 Recharge includes a 3-year comprehensive car warranty, 3 years of Volvo Service, 3 years of Roadside Assistance, an 8-year battery warranty, 5 years of digital services subscription, and an 11 kW wall box charger through a third party.
