River Electric’s Highly Anticipated Electric Scooter, River Indie, Hits The Roads

River Electric, a startup based in Bangalore, officially introduced its highly anticipated electric scooter, the River Indie, in February 2023. Pre-bookings were initiated with an initial deposit of Rs 1,250, and the company had committed to commencing deliveries by August 2023.

On August 24th, River Electric marked a significant milestone as it rolled out the first River Indie from its production facility in Hoskote, Bengaluru. This step fulfils the company’s promise to its customers, and it is expected that more scooters will be delivered in the coming months.

Priced at an introductory rate of Rs 1.25 lakh* (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the River Indie comes in three color options: Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow.

Under the hood, the River Indie is equipped with a mid-mounted motor connected to a belt drive, capable of producing a peak power of 6.7 kW and a maximum torque of 26 nm. Its power source is a 4kWh lithium-ion battery. The scooter boasts a top speed of 90 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 40 km per hour in just 3.9 seconds. With three riding modes—Eco, Ride, and Rush—it offers an estimated real-world range of 120 km. The battery can be charged from 0 to 80% within five hours using a standard charger.

In terms of features, the River Indie sports twin LED headlights, LED taillights, and LED indicators. Its attributes include an LCD instrument cluster, a spacious LED-lit 43-liter under-seat storage, and a lockable 12-liter glove box with a USB charging port. An additional USB port is located on the handlebar. Notable additions encompass rider footpegs, integrated crash bars, saddle stays, raised clip-on handlebars, hazard lights, and a side stand motor cut-off function.
