The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has released a Request for Bids (RFB) for the construction of 283 backend infrastructure units to support Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) Charging Stations and Battery Swapping Stations. This initiative is in alignment with the revamped reforms-based and results-linked Distribution Sector Scheme.
The RFB, issued on August 23, 2023, outlines the timeline for the bidding process. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for August 31, 2023, at 11:30 AM (IST), providing interested parties with the opportunity to gain insights and seek clarifications. The final date for the submission of bids is September 20, 2023, at 12:00 PM (IST), followed by the opening of the technical part of the bids on September 22, 2023, at 12:00 PM (IST).
The comprehensive scope of work for this project encompasses various stages, from site survey and planning to design, engineering, assembly manufacturing, testing, and commissioning. The project aims to establish essential backend infrastructure for LEV Charging Stations and Battery Swapping Stations across multiple districts in West Bengal.
These include Howrah, South 24 Pargana, North 24 Pargana, Nadia, Mursidabad, Birbhum, Hooghly, Bankura, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Purba Medinipur, Purulia, Burdwan East & West, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Alipurduar, Malda, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, and Darjeeling. The WBSEDCL’s initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s EV charging infrastructure and promote sustainable transportation options. The construction of these backend facilities aligns with the government’s broader vision of adopting cleaner mobility solutions and encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles across West Bengal.
