The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), responsible for the Mo Bus service in the city, plans to expand its fleet by adding 200 electric buses by the year-end to cover more areas in the capital region.

CRUT’s managing director, Arun Bothra, announced this decision during a social media event, highlighting the service’s growth from 200 buses with a few thousand riders in 2018 to 405 buses with a substantial increase in ridership.

Considering the rising demand and popularity, CRUT aims to meet the need by introducing 200 more EV buses, bringing the total fleet to 605 buses.

Presently, CRUT operates 50 electric buses and intends to place an order for additional electric buses. This expansion will enable the service to introduce more routes and enhance transportation coverage in the capital region, including Cuttack and Puri.
