Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) announced that it will introduce 6 battery electric vehicles (BEV) to India by FY2030 in its growth strategy. It also plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2070, as per the government’s target. SMC in its FY2030 growth strategy shared by Maruti Suzuki India on BSE stated that it will offer not only battery electric vehicles to India.

Electric Vehicles, but also carbon-neutral internal combustion engines using CNG, biogas, as well as ethanol mixed fuels. SMC stated that it would introduce six models of the SUV battery electric vehicle in India by FY2030.
The company stated that BEVs would account for 15% of its total product range by FY2030. Internal combustion engines will make up 60% and hybrid electric vehicles 25%, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki India, the company’s subsidiary, is the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer by sales. SMC presented the concept electric SUV eVX at the Auto Expo 2023 earlier this month. It is expected to be on the market by 2025.
