CESL Gets Lowest Ever Prices for 5450 E-Buses, Tata Motors Emerges Lowest Bidder

Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a PSU under Ministry of Power announced prices discovered for the biggest ever demand for electric buses. The Grand Challenge tender comprises demand for 5450 buses across five major Indian cities – Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Surat. Prices discovered are the lowest ever and more importantly, at par with or very close to the operational cost of diesel buses. The lowest price discovered for a 12-meter bus is Rs. 43.49/km, and a 9-m bus is Rs. 39.21/km. This includes the cost of electricity for charging of the buses.

Price Bids of the Grand Challenge tender process under the remodeled FAME II scheme for electric buses were opened by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI). The tender contains the largest ever aggregation of electric buses – 5450 buses across five major cities which have indicated their demand for electric buses. Participating cities are Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Surat. The tender has been managed by Convergence Energy Services Limited, as per remodeled FAME Scheme for which the Gazette Notification was issued by the Ministry of Heavy Industries on 11/06/2021.

“If Elon Musk (Tesla CEO) is ready to manufacture in India then there is no problem … Come to India, start manufacturing, India is a large market they can export from India,” said Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. He added, “But if he wants to manufacture in China and sell in India then it cann’t be a good proposition for India.” Tesla still haven’t spoke about its plans to enter the Indian market after Indian officials denied the import duty cuts.

MG Motor Collaborates With BPCL To Accelerate EV Charging Infrastructure In India

MG Motor India has collaborated with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to accelerate the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the country in the next 4 to 5 years. This collaboration targets to boost the EV adoption process o in the country with inter-city travel. Both the companies will install the chargers within cities as well as across highways. “With BPCL’s vast customer reach and operations and MG’s strides in the EV space, the two entities can combine expertise to strategically identify charging sites, garner consumer insights, devise loyalty programs, and create technology to manage charging systems,” they said in a press statement.

Hyundai To Drive in Electric Model IONIQ 5 in India This Year

Hyundai Motor India announced Today that it will bring its internationally-acclaimed electric vehicle, IONIQ 5, to India in the coming year. The launch of the model will be during the festive season in the second half. It marks the start of the company’s plans to expand its battery-electric vehicle range in the country. Hyundai Motor India CEO Unsoo K said that the company, as a customer-centric brand, is focusing very strongly on electric mobility across its business and product ranges for a progressive future. He said that the company had already committed to expanding its battery electric vehicle (BEV), line-up in the country by 2028 to six models.

Omega Seiki Mobility To Set Up e3W Manufacturing Facility In Karnataka

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) to set up an electric three-wheeler manufacturing facility with an investment of USD 250 million in Karnataka. The facility will be the world’s largest e3W manufacturing unit. The facility will be built in three different phases and it will have a production capacity of 1 million e3W annually. It will be built across an area of 250 acres. The mega factory will manufacture Rage+, Rage+ RapidEV, Rage+ Frost, Rage+ Swap, and Rage+ Tipper.

Hero Electric Join Hands With EVIFY To Deploy 1,000 Electric Scooters Across India

Hero Electric join hands with EVIFY to deploy 1,000 electric scooters in the next two years. According to the agreement, Hero Electric will provide electric scooters to EVIFY. 50 electric scooters are under production and it is expected that these scooters will be delivered by May. Another 500 scooters will be delivered in tier-2 and tier-3 cities by the end of this year. “B2B partnerships will enable the EV industry to exchange and utilize partner expertise and strengths to work toward the Zero-Emission vision. Fostering this vision, we have partnered with EVIFY to support their vision of electrifying the last mile delivery segment,” Hero Electric CEO Sohinder Gill said.
