Ola Electric has started the pan India test drives for its electric scooters. These electric scooters are S1 and S1 Pro which were launched this year. Ola Electric is now taking its initiative of EV to 1000 cities and towns across the country. This is one of the largest EV test ride events.
The first round of reservations started at Rs 499 for S1 and was opened online. Ola Electric will be delivering the vehicles through its direct-to-home initiative with no partners or dealers. The deliveries are scheduled to happen this month only.
Test rides began in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Kolkata on November 10 and in Chennai, Kochi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Mumbai on November 19. The test ride events have received a positive response and that’s why the company is the program expanding across the country now.
Arun Sirdeshmukh, Chief Business Officer, Ola Electric, said, “We are scaling test rides up rapidly in the coming weeks and will be covering over 1000 cities and towns across India to ensure every customer has access to test rides by mid-December. This is the fastest national scale-up of test rides ever and a revolution in automotive retail made possible by our direct to consumer model.”
From November 27, Ola Electric will start test rides in Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Nagpur, Kozhikode, Tiruppur, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada.
The electric scooters are developed in India at Ola Futurefactory and Ola plans launch the scooters in countries including the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia next year.
