There are other companies manufacturing motors for EV applications in India. In what all aspects, is EMF-I’s work and scale of work distinct from them?

We have localized the majority of components by investing heavily in making all the moulds, fixtures, jigs & other equipments for our motor manufacturing setup in India.

Our motors are re-designed, customized manufactured as per customer needs. Our prices are already cheaper than imported Chinese products & it will continue to be more attractive as the volume increases.

We offer local warranty and other local support we are in the process of getting IP 67 & ARAI Compliance certification for our motors.

We are the only company focusing on developing new technology motors such as SRM, Syn RM, and PMSM catering to the needs of EV as well as other electrification applications with R &D investments in these areas.

Our production capacity is 12000 motors per month, so we will deliver the motors on time with quality as per customer needs. We have built state of art semi automotive production facility for better quality & productivity which translate to lower price with higher volume.

Rationale behind product selection | Why hub motors?

Currently nobody is doing Hub manufacturing in India. Bringing down the cost of Hub motor will be enable more growth for the low speed two wheeler market.

Price comparison between your motors/controllers VS equivalent performance imports

We will be cheaper than imported motors in India.

Performance-wise there might not be much difference, but we will enhance the quality & reliability though production processes. For example we will offer IP67 rating which imported motors do not have. We will also provide after-sales support such as warranty and repair services, and we leverage on the local manufacturing eco system for quicker response.

What all vehicle segments will your products cater to?

Starting from low end personal mobility devices like cycles, scooter, motor cycle & E-Rick saw all the way up to LCV’S & other electrification applications such as agriculture EV machinery, solar irrigation pumps.

How will Indian manufacturing of motors and controllers help the Indian OEMs?

Typically Chinese imported products none of them have warranty at all, neither they can support warranty because of the business model. For an end customer warranty is very much important in realising value of product & long life of the product, this was very much provided by local Indian Supplier. Product warranty by the supplier apart the OEMS is important element in cost reduction. Local suppliers can understand and work with OEMS on the needs of local market in product development & customer needs by changing the product.

Local supplier chain can reduce the cost of Inventory local supplier can also reduce the turnaround time substantial .This all you help in reducing the working capital of OEM.       Off course, enhance value to the customer with reliable product.

Our Production capacity with 3 semi automated winding is totally 4, 20, 000 unit/year. This is the target volume we are pursuing in the next few years.

Market-readiness and official launch plan

We have been doing motors for the last 4 years though through manual process, which has taught us a strong understanding of how to get the manufacturing process.

Our product have already been through sample testing and proto production & is about to be launched in customer production.

 What is the current team-size? How many people do you expect to employ going forward?

Currently we are 30 plus people when we operate full installed capacity we will be hiring another 70 people or more.
