Hyundai Motor Group showcased its ambitious hydrogen ecosystem strategy for Europe at the World Hydrogen Summit 2026 in Rotterdam, reinforcing its commitment to advancing clean energy solutions beyond mobility.

Held from May 19 to 21 in the Netherlands, the summit served as a platform for Hyundai to present its integrated hydrogen value chain under its hydrogen business brand, HTWO. The company highlighted technologies spanning hydrogen production, infrastructure, fuel cell systems, and a range of industrial and mobility applications.

A major highlight of Hyundai’s exhibition was the debut of the all-new Hyundai NEXO, the successor to the world’s best-selling fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). Hyundai described the new NEXO as a symbol of its decades-long expertise in hydrogen mobility and zero-emission transportation.

The Group also displayed advanced hydrogen fuel cell systems designed for applications beyond passenger vehicles, including stationary power generation, industrial operations, and energy integration systems. Through these technologies, Hyundai emphasized its transition from a vehicle manufacturer to a broader hydrogen ecosystem partner.

Mark Freymüller, CEO of Hyundai Energy & Hydrogen Europe, said the company aims to become a reliable long-term partner in Europe’s hydrogen transition.

“We see hydrogen not as a stand-alone technology, but as a key enabler for cleaner mobility, resilient energy systems, and new industrial opportunities,” Freymüller said. “Europe has ambitious hydrogen plans, and we bring experience from successful deployments that can help turn these plans into robust ecosystems.”

Hyundai noted that it has developed extensive real-world hydrogen expertise in South Korea across the entire value chain, including production, transportation, infrastructure, and fuel cell applications. The company now plans to leverage that experience to support Europe’s growing hydrogen ambitions.

In Europe, Hyundai is already recognised for pioneering hydrogen mobility through the NEXO and the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell truck fleet, which recently surpassed 20 million kilometres driven across the continent.

The company stated that collaboration with policymakers, infrastructure providers, and industry partners will be critical in building sustainable hydrogen ecosystems across Europe. Hyundai said its long-term strategy focuses on accelerating clean mobility, strengthening energy resilience, and supporting industrial decarbonisation through hydrogen technology.
