Emobi has announced that its upcoming electric two-wheeler model, the AKX, will be powered by the advanced e-Axle EV drive unit developed by Musashi Seimitsu Industry, strengthening the collaboration between the two companies in India’s rapidly growing electric mobility market.

The AKX becomes the second Emobi model to integrate Musashi’s e-Axle technology after the launch of the Kyari electric scooter in November 2025. The move reflects Emobi’s broader strategy to develop high-performance electric mobility solutions tailored to India’s urban commuting and last-mile delivery needs.

Naoya Nishimura said the partnership aligns with Musashi’s focus on next-generation mobility technologies designed for evolving transportation demands.

“We are pleased to strengthen our collaboration with Emobi through the AKX, which is the second model to integrate our e-Axle technology,” Nishimura said, adding that India’s EV ecosystem presents significant opportunities for innovation and growth.

According to Emobi, the AKX has been specifically designed to meet the practical demands of Indian consumers by combining performance, efficiency, and reliability. Bharath Rao said the integration of Musashi’s e-Axle system improves acceleration, torque delivery, and overall riding experience while maintaining energy efficiency.

Musashi’s e-Axle technology for electric two-wheelers incorporates a proprietary reduction gear system that delivers smooth acceleration, enhanced pick-up torque, and low-noise performance. The system leverages the Japanese manufacturer’s decades of expertise in two-wheeler transmission technology and aims to replicate the acceleration feel of conventional internal combustion engine motorcycles while improving efficiency.

India, currently the world’s largest two-wheeler market, has witnessed rapid growth in electric mobility adoption, particularly in urban transportation and commercial delivery applications. Industry analysts believe advanced drivetrain technologies such as e-Axles could play a major role in improving EV performance and increasing consumer acceptance.

With the AKX, Emobi is targeting riders seeking practical, performance-oriented electric mobility solutions suited for Indian road and traffic conditions. The company said its product strategy remains focused on balancing affordability, reliability, and advanced technology for both personal and commercial users.

The partnership also highlights the growing collaboration between Indian EV startups and global automotive technology firms as the country accelerates its transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
