zingbus has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with 50 bus operators to facilitate the deployment of more than 200 zingbus Maxx and electric buses over the next 12 months, expanding its intercity mobility network across South and West India.
The agreements were announced at Prawaas 5.0, India’s passenger transport industry event, where the company also received the Bharat Prawagive indepth title with award as People’s Choice Award 2026 in the Favourite Pan-India Bus Operator category.
Under the partnerships, zingbus will combine its technology platform, digital distribution network and service standards with the regional expertise of local bus operators. The company said the model is expected to improve fleet utilisation, expand market access for operators and deliver a more consistent travel experience for passengers.
A significant portion of the planned fleet deployment will operate under zingbus Maxx, the company’s premium intercity travel service. Electric buses will also form a key part of the expansion as zingbus continues to strengthen its clean mobility strategy.
The initial rollout will focus on high-demand routes across South and West India, including corridors connecting Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Goa.
The announcement comes as India’s passenger transport sector places increasing emphasis on premium travel services, electric mobility, road safety and digitalisation. Speaking at Prawaas 5.0, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari highlighted the importance of improving passenger safety, accelerating electric mobility adoption and enhancing the quality of intercity transport services.
Mratunjay Beniwal, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of zingbus, said travellers are increasingly seeking greater comfort, reliability, safety and transparency from intercity bus services. He added that the partnerships would help the company expand its premium and electric mobility offerings while enabling regional operators to benefit from technology, broader distribution and standardized service delivery.
As part of its long-term growth strategy, zingbus plans to introduce more than 50 electric buses in 2026 and expand its electric fleet to 1,000 buses by 2030. The company said live journey tracking, fleet monitoring, trained onboard personnel and enhanced safety protocols will remain integral to its expansion plans.
Commenting on the Bharat Prawaas People’s Choice Award, Beniwal said the recognition reflects the trust placed in zingbus by passengers and reinforces the company’s commitment to improving intercity bus travel while working closely with regional operators to enhance service standards across India.
